The funeral for Harold Valentine Thompson was held on September 8, 2017, from the Dr. Roddie Community Centre to St. Peters Bay RC Church where the Mass was presided over by Father Brian MacDougall who proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. Alter servers were David Lewis, Ronnie MacInnis and Gerard MacKinnon. The pall was placed on the casket by his sons Danny, Gene and Robbie. Gift Bearers were his Nieces, Sheila Sanderson and Sharon terBeek. The readings were proclaimed by his daughters Cathy and Lynn. Prayers of the Faithful were led by his Grandson, Cody MacInnis. “Here I Am Lord” and “The Prayer” were sung by soloist Pam Grant. The organist was Louise MacKinnon. During the Mass The Church Choir led the assembly in singing “Prayer of St. Francis”, “Come to the Water” and “Be Not Afraid”. Honorary Pallbearer­s were everyone attending and those who were with us in spirit. Lay Ministers were his Niece Carol Anne Matheson and Niece and Goddaughte­r Mary Rose Connolly. Internment took place in the St. Peters Bay Cemetery. Those attending the funeral liturgy included members of St. Peters Circle Club, UPSE, Morell and Area Early Learning Centre and Morell High School Staff. Pallbearer­s were his Granddaugh­ters Jacki McCann, Coralee Jackson, Joelyne Taylor, Erin McKenna, Jennifer Handrahan, Amanda MacFarlane, Emily Thompson, Hayley McKenna, Kate Byrne, Jesse MacInnis and Veronica Thompson. Flower Bearers were Grandson Jim Thompson, and Great Grandchild­ren Keiran & Vanessa Thompson, Ashley & Tyler McCann, Meaghan & Michaela Taylor, Viola & Michael Byrne, Charlie, Sam, Will and Joey Handrahan, Ava, Spencer and Parker Jackson, Emma & Mora McKenna, Lou & Max McKenna, Riley Doucette, Jack & Harrison MacFarlane.
