Bouey-Doucet duo perform
Working with young students and performing at regional schools
Two Atlantic Canadians are joining forces to bring their musical gifts back home.
Charlottetown violinist Christina Bouey and New Brunswick pianist Pierre-André Doucet have been teamed up by Debut Atlantic for an Atlantic tour.
The Bouey-Doucet duo will perform a concert tonight at UPEI’s Dr. Steel Recital Hall. Presented by UPEI’s department of music, the program will feature works by R. V. Williams, Fauré, Debussy, SaintSaens and Satoh as well as an original work by Bouey herself.
In addition to concert engagements, the Bouey-Doucet duo will be working with young students and performing at schools throughout the region. The concert gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
They will also participate in a videoconference session hosted by Newfoundland’s Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation which reaches hundreds of students throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and will be available for public viewing around the globe at a date to be announced soon.
Bouey has won grand prize at the Fischoff Competition, Osaka International Chamber Competition as well as the Hugo Kortchak award for outstanding achievement in chamber music.
She has played with numerous symphonies. Her solo and chamber credits include Carnegie Hall, Esterházy Palace, Yamaha Center Auditorium, Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Schneider Series, the Dame Myra Hess series, La Jolla Summer Fest, Emilia Romagna Festival, Harvard Club of New York, Montreal Chamber Festival, Kansas International Music Festival and the Indian River Festival.
Doucet premiered with Symphony New Brunswick in 2007, under maestro Airat Ichmouratov and has since performed with several orchestras in Quebec and South Africa.
An engaging chamber musician and collaborative pianist, he recently won a position in the inaugural Lincoln Center Stage piano quintet aboard the MS Koningsdam, a collaboration between the Lincoln Center of New York and Holland America Line. Doucette has won the prestigious Knigge Piano Competition, the Auditions Jeunes Artistes de RadioCanada and the Atlantic Young Artist Competition.
