Painted Desert demolishes SRW feature

The Sunday afternoon feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway saw a seven-length romp as Painted Desert paced right to his lifetime mark.

The Trevor Hicken trainee got away third in the $2,100 Sunday afternoon top event while Minor Wisdom and driver Adam Merner laid down opening splits of 27.1 and 56.3. Painted Desert was then sent off the pylons by driver Corey MacPherson to touch down on front before the three-quarter marker of 1:26.3.

The 11-year-old pacer then kicked clear to win in 1:55.3 to tie his lifetime best set five years ago. Allstar Seelster (Norris Rogers) was second with Rash B Havior (Dale Spence) completing the $112.50 triactor ticket. The winning horse is owned by Perry Burke of Grosse-Ile.,

The top class victory was one of three on the program for MacPherson who also won with Positive Art in 1:59 for trainer Bing Easter of O’Leary and with Windemere Johnny in 2:01.4 for Phil Sizer of Kensington.

J Rs Hurricane claimed the $1,700 back-up pace as one of two wins on the program for driver Adam Merner. The 1:57.3 victory saw Mando Fun (Kenny Arsenault) finish second with third going to Bet Er All (MacPherson). J Rs Hurricane is owned and trained by Jean Charles Belliveau of Scoudouc, N.B.
