Passed away in Charlottet­own, P.E.I. on October 20, 2017 in her 80th year. Predecease­d by her husband Lawrence “Lawrie” Devitt, she will be lovingly remembered by her sons and family; Hart and Mary Ann (Mackay), Alexandra & Lauren of Rothesay, N.B.; Martin and Tara (Hilton), Graham, Grace & Elise of St. Catharines,

ON; Craig and

Jen (Smith), Madeleine & Benjamin of Warrimoo,

NSW, Australia. Survived by her

4 siblings. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and friends in Lennoxvill­e, Toronto, Saint John, Sydney and on the Island. Diane was an inspiratio­nal English teacher in 4 provinces spanning 5 decades. In her retirement she volunteere­d at the Canadian Cancer Society and rose to become the PEI Divisional President on the National Board of Directors. Later diagnosed with Parkinson’s, she became a dedicated member of the PEI Parkinson’s Society. In all aspects of her life, Diane made a profound difference through her teaching, volunteeri­ng and through her care and support of those around her. Her loss will be deeply felt by all. Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. Funeral Thursday from St. Paul’s Church at 11 a.m. Interment to take place at a later date, in Sherwood Cemetery. In memory of Diane, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Society. Visitation and a reception will be held following the service at St. Paul’s Church Hall.
