Four-point weekend for Lynx

Southside defeats Georgetown, Tignish

CRAPAUD – It was a fourpoint weekend for the Southside MacDonald’s Excavation EF MacPhee Constructi­on Lynx in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League.

The Aces recorded back-toback wins – 6-5 in overtime against the Georgetown Eagles, and 5-3 over the Tignish Perry’s Constructi­on Aces.

The Crapaud-based Lynx, who has played one fewer game, sits in a second-place tie with the North River Flames. Southside is 4-2-0 (won-lost-overtime losses), and the Flames are 4-30.

Tignish recovered with a 9-5 victory over the North River Flames on Sunday.

Lynx 5, Aces 3

At the South Shore Actiplex, the Lynx spotted the Aces a 1-0 lead after one period, before roaring back to take a 3-1 advantage into the second intermissi­on.

Brady VanderVeld­en (2-1), Daniel Collister, Riley Payne and Allan Larsen scored for the Lynx, who received three helpers from Nick Vander Velden.

Will Tuplin (1-1), Drake Smallman and Matthew Bowness contribute­d goals for Tignish (2-3-1).

Sean MacPhee earned the goaltendin­g win. Kristen Clemens was between the pipes for Tignish.

Lynx 6, Eagles 5

At the Three Rivers Sportsplex, Tyson Beckingham’s goal with 2:41 left in overtime lifted the visiting Lynx to victory.

Beckingham finished with four points – three goals and an assist. Riley Payne (1-3) also had four points while Daniel Collister (1-1) and Brady VanderVeld­en contribute­d single tallies. Ryan Beckingham added three helpers.

Derian Johnson (1-1), Hayden Somers (1-1), Jack MacAulay (1-1), Kyle Murphy and Dalton Kemp replied for the Eagles (04-1).

The teams were tied 1-1 after the opening 20 minutes, and 2-2 at the end of two.

Koby Bridges recorded the goaltendin­g victory. Dean Carroll tended goal for Georgetown.

Aces 9, Flames 5

Will Tuplin provided the offensive spark for Tignish with a hat trick and a pair of assists for a five-point performanc­e in leading the Aces to the victory in Tignish.

Dawson Sellick (2), Brayden Arsenault (1-2), Brayden Handrahan (1-1), Brandon Forsythe and Matt Hardy also lit the lamp for the Aces, which are 2-3-1 (won-lost-overtime losses).

Tanner Hood (2), Matt Craig (1-1), Logan Aylward (1-1) and Ethan MacFadyen countered for the Flames (4-3-0).

The period scores were 3-3 and 6-5 in favour of the Aces.

Andrew Gallant stopped 25 of 30 shots in 58 minutes of action in goal for Tignish. Kristen Clemens turned aside one shot in two minutes of play. Ryan Clory was tested 43 times in North River’s net.
