STRETCH Jeremy
The funeral for Jeremy Stretch was held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel where the service was conducted by Pastor Keith Grant assisted by Pastor Gordon Dickinson. The organist was Suzanne DeRoche. During the service, heartfelt words of remembrance were shared by Heather Stretch and Tim Connolly. Scripture passages were shared by Pastor Gordon Dickinson. The congregational hymns were The Solid Rock and Hiding in Thee. Pallbearers were Mike Stretch, Scott Murphy, Tommy MacAdam, Jeff MacDonald, Mike Hayward and Billy Kelly. Flowerbearers were Adam Stretch, David Greene and Jamie Power. Interment took place in Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Those attending the funeral service included Campus Kids Child Care Centre, Retired Teachers of Westwood Scholl, representatives of Eliot River School, PEI Dart Association and Bus drivers of Bluefield School District. Following the interment, everyone was invited to join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Afton Community Centre.
It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of George Cook of New Haven, P.E.I. in his sixty-sixth year. He died peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ellen (Whitty); brothers: Finley (Jean), Doug (Chris); sisters: Betsy (John) Dickie, Phyllis (Bernie) Furlong and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grand-nephews. George was predeceased by his parents Wm. F. (Billy) and Isabel (Gallie) Cook; brothers Mac, Bruce and Kingston; and sisters Lillian and Ruthie. George was born and raised in Black Point, New Brunswick and moved to Prince Edward Island forty-two years ago. He was an avid golfer and member of Glen Afton Golf and Country Club for many years. He enjoyed his involvement with the North Stars Junior Hockey Team. Friends and family will greatly miss his quick wit and humour, his thoughtfulness and smile, and his gift of music. George’s guitar was always close at hand and he led the singing at family and many other gatherings. Visitation will be held at Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottetown on Sunday, November 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 20 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the Belvedere Reception Centre. A Graveside Committal Service will be held at New Mills Protestant Cemetery in New Brunswick in August 2018.
