Singer-wongwriter Dylan Menzie has something special planned for his first hometown concert in more than a year.

Menzie and his band will take the stage at The Mack in Charlottet­own on Dec. 8 for “Dylan Menzie of Christmas Yet to Come’’, a night of original and holiday music featuring special guests.

“It feels like far too long since we’ve performed for our friends and fans in Charlottet­own, especially considerin­g all that’s happened with us over the past year,” says Menzie. “That’s why we wanted to put together a really special evening for everyone, with some of our best and most talented friends joining us onstage for songs, stories, and some fun, old-fashioned holiday cheer.”

In addition to selections from his heralded releases “Heather Avenue and Adolescent Nature’’ – including the CBC Radio 2 chart-topping “Kenya” – Menzie and his band will showcase some new songs and a handful of holiday favourites. Fans can also expect some additional surprises during this evening of Dylan Menzie and his band will take the stage at The Mack in Charlottet­own on Dec. 8 for “Dylan Menzie of Christmas Yet to Come’’.

“We were very excited to hear Dylan Menzie would be using his Christmas show to raise support for the Upper Room Hospitalit­y Ministry,” says Tammy MacKinnon, manager of the Upper Room Soup Kitchen. “There are always many Islanders who need to access our food bank and soup kitchen so we are very thankful and grateful for Dylan’s decision to help us share the love with those who need it most.”

With a sprawling vocal range and compelling approach to compositio­n, Menzie made an indelible mark in the talentrich Atlantic Canadian music market with his debut EP, “Heather Avenue’’ in 2013. In 2016, he was a finalist in CBC’s annual Searchligh­t competitio­n on the back of his breakout single, “Kenya,” which then spent two weeks at No. 1 on CBC Radio 2’s Top 20 leading up to the release of his 2016 album “Adolescent Nature’’.
