Some closure for ‘Bewitched’ fans

Author Adam-Michael James will give a reading from his book at Confederat­ion Centre

Author Adam-Michael James is giving “Bewitched’’ fans some closure 45 years after the TV show went off the air.

In conjunctio­n with the Bookmark in Charlottet­own, James will launch his book, “I, Samantha, Take This Mortal, Darrin’’ at the Confederat­ion Centre on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.

Attendees will watch the show’s last episode to set the tone for James’ reading from his book and are encouraged to dress in styles of the early 1970’s to celebrate the period.

In the show’s original 19641972 run, the tale of witch Samantha Stephens and her mortal husband, Darrin, ended on what might be called a regular episiode since series finales were not the norm for long-running shows like they are today. James aims to give “Bewitched’’ fans the closure they’ve sought all this time.

episode that takes place a week after the show’s final first-run installmen­t in 1972. He brings back favourite characters, creates backstorie­s for the Stephens family and builds on the show’s messages of equality and acceptance.

In the story, Darrin gets a long-awaited promotion but during a party Samantha throws for him, she is forced to out herself as a witch to explain a magical mishap to her mortal guests, pitting her against the almighty Witches Council in a high-stakes fight for her family.
