Forever Paradise dominates Saturday feature
Campbell at the lines for down-the-road victory
There was no looking back for Forever Paradise Saturday afternoon as he demolished his competition in the feature event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Red Shores’s leading driver Marc Campbell was at the lines for the down-the-road victory in 1:57.1 in the $2,250 afternoon finale. Forever Paradise dominated at every fraction, cutting splits in 28, 58.1 and 1:27.3, before drawing clear by four lengths over The Big Bite (driven by Walter Cheverie) and Perfect Escape (Gilles Barrieau).
The winning pacer is trained by Kevin MacLean for owners Reg MacPherson and David MacKenzie of Stratford and Aaron MacKenzie of Winsloe.
The top-class victory was one of two wins on the program for Campbell, who also captured the $1,850 open trot with Freddie from his own stable in a mile time of 2:01.1 for owners Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. Holy Molie Maggie (Corey MacPherson) was second, with third place going to Wedgewood (Gary Chappell).
Good Luck Kathy won the $2,250 Open Mares Pace in 1:59.2 for driver Jason Hughes, conditioner Jennifer Trainor and owner Danny Birt of Stratford. Second went to Woodmere Articblue (Campbell), with Prettyndangerous (Adam Merner) completing the $624.40 triactor.
Joe MacDonald had the first victory of his young training career as the Breadalbane resident conditioned Race 7 winner Tell Me Why. Corey MacPherson was in the bike for her 1:59.1 victory.
Drivers Merner and Barrieau also had driving doubles on the card.
