Surrounded by his family, James Edmund “Eddy” Power passed away peacefully at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 after a 12-year battle with cancer. Eldest son of Jim and Betty (Beagan) Power, loving father of Marcy (Frank) Gregory and Derek and proud Grampie to Marlee Gregory, Cace Power and Avery Power and great friend with his children’s mother Sis Power. Brother of Gordie (d1999), Gene (Debbie), Mike (Rodie), Kenny (Carol-Ann), David (Chris), Bobby (Aletha), Ann (Allan) MacKinnon, Mary (Fraser) MacPhee, Gary (Noreen) and Allan. Uncle to 23 nieces and nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews. Predecease­d by his grandparen­ts, brother Gordie (d1999), nephews Drew (d2012) and Gregory (d 1971) and relatives of the Beagan and Reeves-Power families. A special man and papa to Darlene Ward, Tracey Vos and their six children. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottet­own Funeral Home for visitation on Friday, December 1st from 3 to 5 p.m. The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 2nd with funeral mass from St. Dunstan’s Basilica at 1 p.m. Cremation will follow the mass. Eddie has personally requested that flowers be gratefully declined and memorial donations to the Provincial Palliative Care Centre would be greatly appreciate­d. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to many friends, too many to name, who supported, visited and called Eddie, and a thank you to the following teams who treated and cared for him during his cancer journey- Dr. David MacKenzie, Dr. Mike Mulligan, Dr. Lori Wood and team at the QEII Oncology, PEI Radiology/Oncology, Dr. Pan, Dr. Tiwana, Dr. Schofield, Dr. Megan Miller, Dr. Anne MacDonald and nurses & radiation therapists at the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre; Nurse Mary Roberts and nurses of the InHome Integrated Palliative Care Team; and the wonderful team of Dr. Janet Baker, Dr. Mireille Lecours, Blanche Ward, nurses and staff at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre and Hospice PEI who had fulfilled Dad’s last five months with exceptiona­l and compassion­ate care; we sincerely thank each of you for all that you have done for Eddie, and for embracing and supporting our entire family, we are so fortunate to have such an outstandin­g health facility.
