SMART Recovery expands

-

Self Management and Recovery Training (SMART) volunteer facilitators are now offering additional meetings for those in recovery from all types of addictive behaviours.

Meetings are an hour in length with discussion and tools and strategies to empower people to accomplish the SMART four-point program and build and maintain motivation, cope with urges, identify and solve the other problems in life and achieve lifestyle balance in order to prevent relapse.

Meetings are open to the public and are held Tuesday at 7 p.m. (biweekly) at the Youth Engagement Centre, 381 Notre Dame St., Summerside, and every Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at the Central Christian Church basement, 223 Kent St., Charlottetown.

Weekly meetings are also held Mondays and Thursdays in Unit 9 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown and at the Mount Herbert Provincial Addictions Facility, respectively, for clients only.

For family and friends of those struggling with addictive behaviours, SMART has a session on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the REACH Centre at 223 Mason Rd. in Stratford.
