Winter pottery classes set for Charlottetown

-

Online registration for the winter session of pottery classes at the P.E.I. Potters Studio in Victoria Park in Charlottetown will open on Dec. 11 at 9 a.m.

Perfect for beginners as well as those with previous experience, classes are taught by professional Island potters and are designed to be fun as well as educational. Classes are small in size (a maximum of eight) and relaxed and informal in style.

The class covers the basics of clay preparation, wheel-throwing techniques, and glazing and decoration. Hand-building techniques can also be explored depending on interest. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own pieces from start to finish.

Openings are available for adult beginners classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:309:30 p.m. beginning the week of Jan. 8. Classes for children ages nine to 14 will be held on Saturdays, 10 a.m. to noon, beginning Jan. 6 (if there are enough students interested another class will be offered from 1-3 p.m.). All classes run for a 10-week period.

Registration is online, firstcome, first-served, except for spaces reserved for returning students and those who have received gift certificates.
