Memorial carol sing Sunday

Advent and Christmas music with a reception

Did your mother or father have a favourite Christmas carol? Wouldn’t it be a nice tribute to have it sung in memory of your parent? Or maybe there’s a particular friend whom you’d like to remember with a seasonal song?

An opportunit­y for such thoughtful­ness will happen at the Memorial Carol Sing on Sunday, Dec. 10 in St. Paul’s Church in Charlottet­own at 2 p.m.

This is not a convention­al church service, but 90 minutes of Advent and Christmas music, followed by a reception.

“It will be a specially emotional, meaningful occasion,” says rector John Clarke.

Attendees can actively in different ways.

A donation of $10 or more lets them inscribe the name of a person they want to remember on a star that will be placed on the memorial tree. It also puts participat­e the name of their loved one in the keepsake printed program. (A tax receipt will be issued.)

Audience members are also invited to join in the singing of a number of the traditiona­l pieces.

The proceeds will go to the St. Paul’s Organ Fund, which sustains the church’s wonderful 1936 Cassavant organ.
