VanderVeld­en records eight points for Lynx

It was a night to remember for Brady VanderVeld­en.

The Southside Lynx forward registered eight points – three goals and five assists – in leading the way in an 11-3 victory over the Georgetown Eagles on Saturday night.

In other weekend action in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League, the Summerside Cover-All Constructi­on Crunch topped the Eagles 9-3, and the Sherwood-Parkdale Metros prevailed 5-2 over the North River Flames.

Crunch 9, Eagles 3

At The Plex in Slemon Park, James Birt (2-2) Kolton Stright (1-3) and Tanner Jamieson (1-3) recorded four points to pace the Crunch, who sits 6-8-1 (wonlost-overtime losses). James Briand (2), Colton Morris (1-2), Skyler Phillips and Remi Arsenault also scored while Monty Deseux earned two helpers.

Isaiah Mahar (2) and Drew Christense­n answered for the Eagles, who trailed 3-2 after one period and 5-2 following 40 minutes.

Winning goaltender Avery Arsenault turned in a 28-save effort.

Lynx 11, Eagles 3

At the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud, Nick VanderVeld­en (3-2), Drew Grady (2-4), Tyler Jurkowski (1-3) and Cameron Nelson, who contribute­d four assists, also had big offensive performanc­es for the Lynx (117-0). Rourke Perry and Ryan Beckingham also dented the twine.

Riley Lavandier (1-1), Austin Sorrie (1-1) and Kyle Murphy countered for the Eagles (1-151).

The Lynx led 3-1 after the opening period, and took a commanding 8-2 margin into the second intermissi­on.

Koby Bridges made 25 saves in earning the goaltendin­g win.

Metros 5, Flames 2

At the APM Centre in Cornwall, Shawn Corney (2), Jake Arsenault (1-1), Brechan MacLean and Riley Cheverie provided goals for the league-leading Metros (16-1-0).

Ethan MacFadyen and Matt Craig replied for the Flames (67-2).

The period scores were 1-1 and 2-1 in favour of SherwoodPa­rdkdale.

Wining goaltender Blake Arsenault stopped 26 shots.
