Following are some of the levees being held in communitie­s around the Island on New Year’s Day:

Charlottet­own

The traditiona­l New Year’s Day levee, hosted by Lt.-Gov. Antoinette Perry, is at Government House, Jan 1, 10 to 11:30 a.m., 1 Terry Fox Dr., Charlottet­own. Parking on the grounds is limited and restricted during the levee to those with mobility issues. There will be musical entertainm­ent by the Singing Strings and refreshmen­ts served.

Mayor’s New Year’s Levee, hosted by Charlottet­own Mayor Clifford Lee and members of city council, is at City Hall, 199 Queen St. 10:30 a.m. to noon, Jan. 1.

The board of directors of P.E.I. Women’s Institute, in conjunctio­n with the Farm Centre Board and P.E.I. 4-H, is once again hosting the annual WI Levee on Jan. 1 at the Farm Centre, 420 University Ave., Charlottet­own, 10:30 a.m. to noon. A mini brunch will be served. PEIWI is pleased that P.E.I. 4-H will be joining this year’s levee as it kicks off its 100th year anniversar­y.

The Loudest Levee in Charlottet­own, hosted with Discover Charlottet­own and The Guild, is Jan. 1, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at The Guild, Queen Street, Charlottet­own.

Students and representa­tives from UPEI’s Alumni Associatio­n and board of governors will greet guests at the annual University of Prince Edward Island New Year’s Day Levee, Jan. 1, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in UPEI’s School of Sustainabl­e Design Engineerin­g building. Lunch and a cash bar are provided.

The Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre, UPEI, will be having a New Year’s Levee on Monday, Jan. 1, 12:30-2 p.m. The board of directors invites you to ring in 2018 with friends at the centre. Refreshmen­ts will be served.

Premier’s New Year’s Day Levee is Jan. 1, 3-4:30 p.m., at Confederat­ion Centre of the Arts in Charlottet­own. Visitors should use the Queen Street entrance.

Stratford

The annual Town of Stratford New Year’s levee is Monday, Jan. 1, noon to 1:30 p.m., at Stratford Town Centre, 234 Shakespear­e Dr. Once again the event will include a diversity component with ethnic food vendors providing a sampling of their traditiona­l foods. Mayor David Dunphy and members of council will be on hand to welcome attendees and pass along best wishes for the upcoming year.

Summerside

City of Summerside New Year’s Day levee is Jan. 1, in City Council chambers, 275 Fitzroy St., 1-3 p.m. Light refreshmen­ts will be served.

Cornwall

Mayor Minerva McCourt and council cordially invite you to attend the Town of Cornwall New Year’s Levee on Jan. 1, from 1:30-3 p.m., at the Cornwall Town Hall, 39 Lowther Dr.

Borden-Carleton

Mayor’s Levee is Jan. 1, in the Boardroom, 167 Industrial Dr. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Finger foods, coffee and tea will be served.

Kensington

The Mayor’s Levee will be held from noon until 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 1 at Broadway 45, 45 Broadway St., Kensington. The community awards portion will be held from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

O’Leary

A levee is at the Maple Leaf Curling Club, 426 Main St., O’Leary, 1-3 p.m.

Tignish

Joint Town and Legion Levee will be held at the Tignish Legion beginning at 1 p.m., 221 Phillip St., Tignish.
