Charlottetown’s BioVectra named one of the top employers in Atlantic Canada

-

Charlottetown-based BioVectra has been named one of Atlantic Canada’s top employers for 2018 by Atlantic Business magazine.

“The leading employers recognize that creating a spirit of community in their workplace strengthens engagement, staff cohesion and employee performance,’’ said Richard Yerema, managing editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, which manages the Atlantic Canada competition.

Atlantic Business magazine said BioVectra, a pharmaceutical ingredients manufacturer, develops its employees’ skills with tuition subsidies and a range of paid internships and apprenticeship options.

Other companies mentioned by the magazine include CAA Atlantic in Saint John, N.B.; Admiral Insurance in Halifax; Medavie Blue Cross in Moncton; High Liner Foods in Lunenburg, N.S.; Irving Oil, based out of Saint John, N.B.; and Inmarsat Solutions out of Mount Pearl, N.L.

Now in its ninth year, Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers is a special designation that recognizes employers in Canada’s four Atlantic provinces that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.

Employers are evaluated by editors at Canada’s Top 100 Employers using the same criteria as the national competition – physical workspace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development and community involvement.

Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forwardthinking programs. The annual competition is open to any employer with its head office in Atlantic Canada. Employers of any size may apply, whether private or public sector.
