Halliwell earns shutout

Matthew Halliwell recorded the shutout as the Central Attack topped the Summerside Capitals 5-0 on Sunday evening.

The P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League game was played at the Bell Aliant Centre on the UPEI campus.

Braden Donnelly had a goal and two assists to pace the Attack, who improved to 8-13-1 (won-lost-tied).

Dylan MacDonald (1-1), Joey Hood, Emmett Lyons and Patrick Young also scored for the Charlottet­own-based Attack.

Caden Kielly (2), Jake MacMillan (2), Ryan McCabe, Justin Richard and Josh McKnight chipped in with assists.

The Attack built period leads of 2-0 and 4-0.

Carter Champion was in goal for Summerside (5-18-0).

Whalen earns shutout

On Saturday night in Alberton, Trevor Whalen played a key role in the Pownal Taco Boyz Red Devils’ win.

Whalen recorded the shutout and earned an assist as the Red Devils topped the host Western Regals 4-0 at the Jacques Cartier Arena.

Hunter Pauley-Smith scored twice while Noah Morrison and Dawson Palmer added single goals as Pownal improved to 12-8-1 (won-losttied).

Grant Koughan, Lucas Parsons, Michael Gallant and Keegan Mitchell also assisted.

After a scoreless opening period, the Red Devils took a 2-0 lead into the final frame.

Cole Gallant was between the pipes for the Regals (7-8-4).
