Stratford residents urged to give input on town issues in new survey

-

Stratford residents will have their say once again.

The municipality is holding its seventh annual resident survey.

Since launching the survey in 2011, more than 800 residents have provided feedback each year, helping inform decisions on topics ranging from cosmetic pesticides to transit services.

“Year after year we continue to be impressed with tremendous response from residents,” Stratford Mayor David Dunphy said in a statement.

“Resident engagement is a priority for our council and staff, and this survey has become a major tool for gathering resident feedback on town plans and decisions.”

This year, in addition to ongoing topics such as health and wellness, safety in the community, environmental protection, town performance and communications, the survey includes a new series of questions related to satisfaction with specific town services and the impact of potential paperless services.

Also new to the survey will be questions related to the Smoke-Free Stratford initiative. A number of changes are being considered which could include increasing smoke-free areas in the town as well as introducing potential penalties.

“The idea of a Smoke-Free Stratford is based on a desire to improve the health of our community as a whole,” said Dunphy.

“Through the annual Resident Survey, we will be looking to hear residents’ opinions on the issue of smoking in Stratford and possible changes the town may pursue as part of this initiative.”

Residents can complete the survey online at www.TownofStratford.ca/2018ResidentSurvey. A print version of the survey will be distributed to all residents in the coming weeks. The deadline for completing the online survey is Feb. 26.
