Week of prayer begins Jan. 20

-

The Charlottetown Area Christian Council’s 24th annual prayer breakfast will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Rodd Charlottetown hotel.

Tickets are available at most Charlottetown area churches for $15 each or can be obtained by contacting Don Gaudet at 902-218-1170. Tickets are not available at the door.

The closing service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, 7 p.m., at Saint Dunstan’s Basilica. All are welcome to hear keynote speaker Rev. David Dubois, pastor of the Charlottetown First Baptist Church. Dubois will speak to this year’s theme: “Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power “(Exodus 15.6)

Members of the Charlottetown Area Christian Council and guests have been gathering annually for many years, enjoying good fellowship, great music and a hearty breakfast. Each year with assistance from a special guest speaker, Islanders discover the power of prayer with people from all walks of life from across P.E.I. This year’s keynote speaker will be recently retired Senator Libbe Hubley, who will speak about how her Christian values have affected her life as a politician and a Canadian senator.

Music will be provided by David Rashed and friends.

The master of ceremonies is council president, Salvation Army Maj. Daniel Roode.

Worldwide, this is the 110th anniversary of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

In this 24th annual prayer breakfast, the participants try to discover what God requires of them in the many roles they play as citizens of P.E.I. This includes parenting, employment; ministries in hospitals, correctional institutions, schools and other important players in the service sector of P.E.I.

The outgrowth from the event is a strong fellowship that helps to build true community on P.E.I. and throughout Canada.

The Charlottetown Area Christian Council believes prayer experiences should be inclusive and shared with the entire community in the spirit of unity, which reminds us of a biblical promise that when two or more are gathered together in prayer, God is there.
