‘O Mistress Moon’ featured
UPEI Music Department Recital Series
The UPEI Music Department Recital Series 2017-2018 will present “O Mistress Moon” featuring Jennifer King, piano with Prof. Sung Ha Shin-Bouey, soprano on Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
“O Mistress Moon” is a collection of two centuries of nocturnes and night-inspired music from composers Field, Chopin, Scriabin, Barber, Debussy, Ravel, Britten as well as current Juno award winning composer Derek Charke.
King will be joined by ShinBouey who will add a set of Spanish serenades.
“This music promises to transport you to the moon and back on a peaceful thought-provoking journey,” a news release states.
King’s recent recording, “O Mistress Moon”, will be available for purchase at the concert.
Energetic and insightful, King is a versatile pianist who is equally at home on the concert stage and in the classroom. She is also in high demand as an adjudicator, coach and clinician.
She worked at Acadia University’s School of Music as the staff accompanist, a part-time piano instructor and faculty member from 2003-2016. She currently works as a private piano instructor and coach from her home studio and at the Maritime Conservatory of Music and Performing Arts in Halifax, N.S.
Shin-Bouey is professor of vocal and choral programs at the UPEI Music Department, where she teaches applied voice and vocal master class, coaches vocal chamber music and directs the UPEI Concert Choir, chamber singers, women’s/ men’s vocal ensembles.
