SHIELDS, W. Reginald “Reg”

Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday, January 20, 2018 of W. Reginald “Reg” Shields of Charlottetown age 77 years. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Arsenault). Dear father of Fran (Greg) Young, Billy (Stephanie) Shields, Patricia Shields and Brian Shields, and father-in-law of Mike Mattsson. Reg is also survived by his brothers and sisters Raymond (Debbie), Marlene (Louie) Flood, Marjorie Currie, his extended family, Sharon (Ed) Moores, Donna White (Emmett MacDonald), Marel (Shaun deceased) McKay, Deanna (Steve) Bowtle, Darlene MacDonald, Gordie MacDonald, and Candace Merkens ; his grandchildren Allison (Adam) Stewart, Jarred Shields, Brock, Sarah, Amy and Jodie Mattsson, Rachelle and Samantha Young ; his sister-in-law Nancy Shields, brother-in-law Alex (Enid) Griffin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Theresa Griffin, parents Helen and Bill Shields, daughter Debbie Mattsson, brothers and sisters, Lloyd, Ronnie and Gloria. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Wednesday morning, then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Members of the Knights of Columbus will hold a prayer service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Palliative Care or the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre.
