The funeral for Arliss Doucette (nee Crossman), beloved wife of Terry Doucette, of Rustico, was held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico. In the absence of the church pastor, Reverend Alrulraj Santiago, the celebrant for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend John Lacey, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The first reading, from Wisdom, was addressed by Charla Fife. The second reading, from II Corinthian­s, was addressed by Gina Walton. Prayers of the Faithful were led by Lorraine Pollock. The altar servers were James Donnelly, Joseph O. and Linda Gallant. Delma Good, Roma Gallant and Linda Gallant assisted Father Lacey as Eucharisti­c ministers. The music was provided by the church choir with Phyllis Arsenault as choir director and Shane Arsenault as organist. The hymns were Entrance, “On Eagles Wings”; Psalm, “The Lord’s My Shepherd”; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Alleluia”, with Janet Cox as cantor; offertory, “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman”,; communion, “You Are My Saviour”, sung by Phyllis Arsenault; commendati­on, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessiona­l, “We Shall Go Out”. Honorary pallbearer­s were everyone present. Bearers of Honour were friends, Don Doucette, Donna Price and Eddie Peters. Flower bearers were Amanda Doucette, Dale Dickey, Natasha Flood, Anne Marie MacDonald, Meagan Gallant and Michaela Flood. Among those in attendance were representa­tives from the Cymbria Lions and Lionettes. Interment took place following the service in the Church Cemetery where Father Lacey conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
