The funeral for Joseph Andrew Burley was held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from Dingwell Funeral Home. The funeral procession was escorted to St. Columba Roman Catholic Church, Fairfield, by trucks from Morley Annear Trucking Company, with drivers Scott Annear, Mark Duncan and Wayne MacDonald. The funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. James Willick, assisted by Rev. Raju Chebattina, who proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the Homily. The readings were done by Kathleen MacDonald and Colleen Outhouse. Kathy Burley led the congregati­on in the Prayers of the Faithful. Rena MacAulay and Roger MacIntosh brought the gifts to the altar. The soloist, Rika Cheverie, sang the entrance hymn “Be Not Afraid”. The Offertory hymn was “Hail Mary, Gentle Women” and the Communion hymn was “City of God”. The Commendati­on was “Songs of the Angels” and the Recessiona­l hymn was “Blessed Be the Lord”. Programs were distribute­d by Roma and Lloyd Deagle. The Altar Servers were Ronnie Campbell, Michael MacDonald, Billy Harris and Richard Rose. Honorary Pallbearer­s were all those in attendance. Flowerbear­ers were Max MacDonald, Laura Burley, Anthony and Michelle MacDonald. Among those in attendance were staff from Princess Auto and Morley Annear Trucking Company. Interment took place in St. Columba Cemetery with committal service conducted by Rev. James Willick. A reception followed in the church basement hosted by the St. Columba C.W.L.
