Door-to-door out; passport office in?

-

Well, MP Sean Casey, the big guns have spoken regarding door-to-door mail delivery. Many Islanders do recognize all your efforts and we do thank you.

It would seem that all other Liberal MPs on the Island seemed content to let you try to defend the federal government’s position, whether they have door-to-door or not. It was thoughtful of them to let you be the scapegoat. Shame on them - Lawrence MacAulay, Bobby Morrissey and Wayne Easter.

Perhaps these other three Liberal MPs could tell us if all 800,000 Canadians affected are going to receive tax compensation. Canadians with door- to-door are receiving a special service compared to the rest of taxpayers.

On a different topic, it is time, in fact past time, that all Island MPs, plus senators Percy Downe, Diane Griffin and of course Mike Duffy now work together to obtaining a Passport Office in P.E.I., the only province which doesn’t have one. Once again we are not receiving a service paid for by our taxes.

In an age where a valid passport is the only acceptable piece of identification - Islanders should not have to deal with other provinces to be allowed to travel freely. We deserve our own Canada passport office in our province - The Cradle of Confederation.

And, thank you, again, Mr. Casey. We have to give you credit for pulling out all the stops in your attempts regarding the federal government and Canada Post.

Gary Walker, Charlottetown
