-

Bluegrass music comes to the stage of the Benevolent Irish Hall in Charlottetown on Feb. 4.

This is the first of the winter/ spring series to raise money for the 33rd anniversary Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival, July 6-8 in Rollo Bay. Admission is $10 at the door with all proceeds going to the P.E.I. Bluegrass & Old Time Music Society. Doors will open at 1 p.m. The hall, which is located at 582 North River Rd., is equipped with an elevator.

Friends Vans Bryant and Harold Noye in the popular band, Dunromin, will perform songs recorded by famous brother artists such as Jim and Jesse, the Osborne Brothers and the Louvin Brothers. Marnie Noye compliments their sound by playing a solid stand up bass, John Campbell joins in on fiddle and Jim Dickson on banjo. Both also sing lead and harmony vocals. Dunromin’s professional entertaining style includes strong instrumentation, tight knit vocals and plenty of humour.

Janet McGarry and Wildwood, a favourite and awardwinning P.E.I. band, will be featured with her husband, Serge Bernard, on guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmony vocals, Dylan Ferguson on guitar and vocals, Denise MacLeod on fiddle and vocals and Gail Mullen on upright bass and vocals. This past October, they picked up the award for gospel performance of the year at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards.

Bluegrass Revival band has performed in all Atlantic provinces, playing at festivals, church services, fundraising concerts and house parties. The band enjoys taking traditional bluegrass and old time music tunes and putting their own unique lead and harmonies into each song.

Bandmates include Peter LeMoine on banjo and vocals, Joe MacMillan on guitar and vocals, Cherie LeMoine on vocals, David Clarke on dobro and vocals, Shirley Smedley Jay on mandolin and vocals and Ed Bonjokian on bass and vocals.
