Home teams take midget AAA games in Pownal, Souris

Home ice was kind to the Pownal Taco Boyz Red Devils and the Kings County Kings as both P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League teams tallied wins Monday in familiar ground.

Pownal doubled the Summerside Capitals 8-4 in Pownal, while Kings County outgunned the Western Regals 5-2 in Souris.

The Devils went to 16-10-3 and Summeside dropped to a league-worst 5-22. Kings County upped its record to 139-5, while Western fell to 9-13-5.

Red Devils 8, Capitals 4

Pownal scored four times in the third period, breaking open a close game and salting away the win.

Grant Koughan (1-1), Nick Steele (1-1), Lucas Parsons and Michael Gallant scored in the decisive frame. Dawson Palmer (1-1), Alex MacEachern (1-1), Keegan Mitchell and Sam Langille netted the other Devils goals.

Jack Triantaffl­ou chipped in two assists.

Parker Gallant (2-1), Kennedy Gallant (1-1) and Blake Gallant (1-1) tallied the Caps scores.

Logan Birt earned the win over Carter Champion.

Pownal was 1-for-7 on the power play, while the Caps went 3-for-6 with the extra man.

The game was tied 2-2 after the first period. Pownal led 4-2 at the second intermissi­on.

Kings 5, Regals 2

Tyson McInnis scored twice and added an assist and led the Kings to the victory in Souris.

Jacob MacEachern (1-2), Jake MacLaren (1-1) and Ty Peardon had the other Kings goals.

Ethan Oliver (1-1) and Oliver Smallman netted the Regals markers. Jax Harper added two assists.

Nicolas Jamieson outdueled Cole Gallant for the win.

The game was tied 1-1 at the first intermissi­on. Kings County led 3-1 after two periods.

Neither team had a powerplay goal a combined three chances.
