Stratford teenager’s Skate for Mental Health goes Sunday at Eastlink Centre

There are some hefty auction items up for bids in an effort to boost a Stratford’s teenager’s fundraiser for the P.E.I. division of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Ellen Carragher, 13, is hosting the second annual Skate for Mental Health at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Some of the auction items include two rounds of golf at Dundarave, two tickets to the National Hockey League game between the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers on March 13, an authentic Sidney Crosby Team Canada jersey, a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey and an impressive looking deluxe barbecue set.

Bids will be accepted for the online auction until 11 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11. There are more than 150 items in total worth more than $13,000 combined.

The hour-long public skate will be followed by a pizza party and cake.

For the event, helmets are mandatory when on the ice. There is no cost to participate, but donations to the mental health association are encouraged. CMHA-P.E.I. staff will be on hand to issue tax receipts. Cash, debit, credit and cheques will be accepted.

The online auction can be found at www.32auctions.com/ skateformentalhealth and on Facebook at mentalhealthfundraiser.
