Special service set for Feb. 18
Park Royal United Church celebrates 60th anniversary with Valentine’s Day dinner, concerts
Park Royal United Church is in the midst of a year of celebration as it marks 60 years of congregational life.
Guided by the theme, “Choosing Celebration,” while telling stories and sharing memories, the members and friends of the congregation are participating in a number of activities, concerts and special times of worship to acknowledge this milestone event.
One such service will be happening on Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m. when all those who have had a family member baptized at Park Royal are invited to be at worship so that this important moment in their lives can be remembered with gratitude.
“It is the congregation’s hope that parents, children, extended families and friends will join us as we worship and praise God that Sunday,” a news release states.
Throughout its history, Park Royal has had a reputation for offering good, strong music. This continues with the church’s choirs and band, supplemented by many guests, offering their talents during worship and with the presentation of concerts in the church sanctuary.
Plans are also underway for a gospel concert to be held in the church on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.
The building will be rocking once again on April 7 with its annual 50’s and 60’s concert that has delighted audiences each time it has been presented.
Both concerts will feature a number of performers and a full house is anticipated. Tickets for these concerts will be available through the church office at 902- 894-9656.
Like many congregations, the people Park Royal like to eat. The men of the congregation will be putting on a roast beef Valentine’s dinner today at 5:30 p.m. Contact the church office for tickets at 902- 894-9656.
This year of celebration is, among other things, a time to share memories about Park Royal United. If anyone has a memory or a story about a service of worship, a special event, a time of working with Park Royal, the congregation would love to receive submissions. They may be displayed in the Memory Corner or even shared during a time of worship.
