Third time is a charm
Barry Craswell, left, and Sterling Stratton, right, of the Cornwall Curling Club won their third P.E.I. provincial men’s stick curling championship with an 8-0 win over Floyd Stewart and Gordon MacDonald of the Montague Curling Club in the final of the Open Division on Thursday in Alberton. Craswell and Stratton beat defending champs Walter Callaghan and John Vincent 4-3 in one semifinal, while Stewart and MacDonald downed Winston Keough and Harvey Holm in the other semi to reach the title game. All four teams advanced to the Maritime stick curling championships March 23-25 in Chester, N.S. Centre is P.E.I. stick curling championships co-ordinator Ernie Stavert.
