Seek volunteers for heart, stroke

-

With February almost half over, we are nearing the mid-point of Heart & Stroke’s Person-to-Person (P2P) Heart Month campaign.

Some of your readers will already have answered our canvassers’ knocks on their doors. The efforts of these volunteers and those who donate raise a significant percentage of our annual revenues, dollars vital to our mission of preventing disease, saving lives and promoting recovery.

Over the past 60 years, deaths from heart disease and stroke have declined by 75 per cent. However, there is much work still to be done; nine in 10 of us have at least one risk factor and seven in 10 three or more. You will know from our Heart Report that we are also working to improve outcomes for women with heart disease and stroke. We must generate the next medical breakthroughs, so residents of P.E.I. and all of Canada don’t miss out on precious moments.

With a number of our dedicated volunteers no longer able to canvass, Heart & Stroke is always happy to hear from people who are willing to canvass their neighbourhoods or fundraise online. It’s not too late — if you have a few hours to share, Crystal, our campaign manager, would love to hear from you: 902-892-7441, ext. 1203 or crystal.cobb@heartandstroke.ca

In closing, sincere thanks to those who have already donated to our P2P campaign. If you have not been canvassed, we hope you will consider making a donation online by visiting www.heartandstroke.ca/give or by calling us at 902-892-7441, toll-free 1-888-4734636.
