The funeral for Gerald Spencer Green of Central Bedeque, husband of Brenda (Murphy) Green was held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. Peter’s Church, Seven Mile Bay where funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Doug MacDonald. The gospel was proclaimed by Fr. Doug who also delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by the family. Cross bearer was Karen Noonan. Altar servers were Charlie Wood and Tom Sherry. The first reading was proclaimed by grand daughter, Stephanie Lane and the second reading by grand daughter, Rebecca Green. Prayers of the faithful were led by brother-in-law, Eugene Murphy. The combined parish choirs of St. Peter’s and St. Malachy’s sang: procession­al hymn, Here I Am Lord; offertory hymn, Peace Is Flowing; communion hymn, I am the Bread of Life and recessiona­l hymn, How Great Thou Art. The responsori­al psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd, was rendered by soloist, Anna Marie Lynch. Organist was Joan Gauvin. Communion lay distributo­rs were Myrna Murray and Eugene Murphy. Ushers were Dale Murray and Andrew Noonan. Pall bearers were grandsons, Jonathan Lane, Adam Lea and Evan Lane and by granddaugh­ters, Nicole Lane, Rachel Green, as well as a family friend, Jason Greencorn. Flower bearers were granddaugh­ters, Natalie Lane, Shanglee Tran, Haven Green and Christine MacDonald. All attending Gerald’s funeral are considered to be honorary pall bearers. Attending the funeral were members of Quilting B & More, Royal LePage Country Estates and Others, Strait Crossing Bridge Ltd and PEI Referees Associatio­n. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora.
