The funeral for Gerald Stordy of Shamrock, husband of Marion (Cairns) Stordy was held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 where funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Malachy’s Church, Kinkora at 10:30 am by Rev. Doug MacDonald who proclaimed the gospel and delivered the homily. Cross bearer was Bertha Lawless. Altar servers were Neville and Andrew Lawless. The first scripture reading was proclaimed by daughter, Noella Stordy and the second scripture reading proclaimed by daughter-in-law, Cathy Stordy. Prayers of the faithful were led by daughterin-law, Wendy MacGregor. The combined choirs of St. Malachy’s and St. Peter’s sang the procession­al hymn, You Are Near; offertory hymn, Here I am Lord; communion hymn, I am The Bread of Life; recessiona­l hymn, How Great Thou Art and Song of Farewell, Song of The Angels. The hymn “Hallelujah” was rendered by Ramona Roberts and Gary Arsenault. Guitarists were Ramona Roberts, Gary Arsenault and Mike Johnston. Pallbearer­s were grandsons, Brent Dempster, William Stordy, and Clark Stordy as well as sons-in-law, Darrell Dempster and Jody Doyle and friend, Kenny Lawless. Flower bearers were granddaugh­ters, Kara Dempster, Hannah Stordy, Isabel Stordy, Mandy Dempster, Lyndsay Stordy and Emma Doyle. During his lifetime, Gerald enjoyed the friendship of many wonderful people. The family therefore requests that everyone present at the funeral liturgy consider themselves an honorary pall bearer. Interment will be later in the parish cemetery. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora.
