St. Patrick’s Day comes early

Treble with Girls concert set for March 11 in Stratford

-

Treble with Girls will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a bit early this year.

The March 11 installment of the band’s QEH Winter Fundraising Concert Series will present a special program.

The concert, presented by Cardigan Bearing & Steel and Cardigan Feed Services will take place at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Hall, 145 Stratford Rd., Stratford at 2 p.m.

Traditional music will be at the forefront with special guests Taylor Johnson on guitar, vocals and bodhran along with fiddler, piper and whistle player Thomas Harrington and Nick Van Ouwerkerk. The trio are regular performers at sessions, dances and concerts throughout the Island including venues such as the Old Triangle Irish Alehouse in Charlottetown, Copper Bottom Brewing Company in Montague and the Benevolent Irish Society hall.

The special show will mark the return of Treble with Girls band member Maxine MacLennan who has been recovering from a serious car accident in November.

Fiddler Sheila MacKenzie says it will be wonderful to have the whole band together again.

“To have all our harmonies back and to be able to play a lot of the songs that we needed her for will feel good.”

This will be the second last show in the winter concert series, which will have its finale on April 8.

Raising funds for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation, the afternoons of family friendly music and fun also include door prizes, a 50/50 draw and a homemade lunch served at intermission. Music gets underway at 2 p.m.
