Seniors centre hosting ceilidh

The monthly ceilidh at the Seniors Active Living Centre will be held on Sunday starting at 1:30 p.m.

Hosting this ceilidh is Colleen MacPhee and joining her will be Billy Matthews on vocals and drums, Judy Lowe, keyboard and harmony vocals, and David Berrigan on acoustic guitar.

MacPhee is a member of the Lady Singers of our Century who are in their third year of performing at various venues all over the Island, she pays tribute the late Rita MacNeil. MacPhee also recorded a CD with her daughter, Brittney, who is also a country singer.

Matthews, the son of the late Neil Matthews, has been involved with the music industry for many years performing with many groups including Urban Outlaws, Country Maple and Dad and His Lad. He played in Ontario until his family moved back to the Island where He continued his passion in singing and playing drums. Presently he is a member of the group The Accidental­s.

Berrigan has been playing guitar for many years. He currently plays at the second ceilidh of the month held at Winsloe United Church, which is hosted by Dino Dunsford, and is a member of the Lady Singers of Our Century.

Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy an afternoon of great music.

Lunch is by donation, so join your friends for a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit. There is also a 50/50 draw.

Admission is $10 at the door which opens 1 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the Seniors Active Living Centre located in the Bell Aliant Centre at UPEI. The centre is wheel chair accessible and has plenty of parking.
