The funeral for Aubrey “Spic” Doucette, beloved husband of Millie Doucette, of Rustico, was held on Monday, March 19, 2018, at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico. The celebrant for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Alrulraj Santiago, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The first reading, from Wisdom, was addressed by Dave Muir. The second reading, from Romans, was addressed by Yvonne Doucette. Prayers of the Faithful were led by Sharon Stuckless. The altar servers were James Donnelly, Joseph O. and Linda Gallant. Marion Murphy, Joan Blacquiere and Linda Gallant assisted Father Raj as Eucharisti­c ministers. The music was provided by the church choir with Phyllis Arsenault as choir director and Shane Arsenault as organist. The hymns were Entrance, “On Eagles Wings”; Psalm, “The Lord’s My Shepherd”; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Alleluia”, with Janet Cox as cantor; Offertory, “Here I Am, Lord”; Communion, “You Are My Saviour”, sung by Phyllis Arsenault; Commendati­on, “Songs of the Angels”; and Recessiona­l, “How Great Thou Art”. Honorary pallbearer­s were everyone present. Pallbearer­s were grandsons, Robby Doucette, Josh Buttery, Dillion Doucette, Kyle Gallant, Ryan Doucette and Daniel MacKinnon. Flower bearers were granddaugh­ters, Amanda Doucette, Melissa Dickey, Katie Doucette, Becky Heino, Bailey Doucette, Anne Marie MacDonald, Megan Gallant, Natasha Flood, Michaela Flood and Emily Otoijaghal­e. Interment took place following the service in the Church Cemetery where Father Raj conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
