DUFFY, Charles Patrick
The funeral mass for Charles Duffy was celebrated Thursday, March 15, 2018 from Hillsboro Funeral Home to St. Patrick’s Church, Fort Augustus, with celebrant Fr. George Gilliland proclaiming the gospel and delivering the homily. The pall was placed by daughters - Charlene Duffy, Carol Anne Duffy and Maureen Marvin. The Pascal Candle was lit by Bethany Toombs. The first reading was proclaimed by Shirliana Bruce; second reading by Malachy Duffy and prayers of intercession by Mallory and Kayla Duffy. Music was provided by St. Patrick’s Parish Choir accompanied by Organist, Kathleen MacDonald, soloists - Allan Keoughan and Sharon Gusz and musicians - Carmen Halman and Vincent Keoughan. The processional hymn was “We’ll Rise Again”, psalm - “The Lord is my Shepherd”, offertory - “Because He Lives”, communion - “Only a Shadow”, meditation - Allan Keoughan - “Sifter of the Soil” and Sharon Gusz - “Irish Blessing”, incense - “Song of the Angels” and the recessional hymn was delivered by Vincent Keoughan on Violin - “Balkam Hills, Homeward Bound”. The Eucharistic Ministers were Agnes MacDonald and Geraldine Keoughan. The cross bearer was Patrick Duffy (Jr.) and the altar servers were Marshall and Jarrod Duffy and Michael Cummiskey. The gift bearers were Mark Duffy, Victoria Duffy, Donald Duffy, Dawn Marie Duffy, Jeffrey Marvin, Charlie Duffy, Neil Toombs, Curtis Toombs, Andrew Duffy and Donovan Duffy. The pallbearers were sons - Kevin, Patrick, Tom, Michael, Charles, Philip and Colin Duffy and sons-in-law - Brian Greenan, Alan Toombs and Kenneth Marvin. Groups in attendance were the Knights of Columbus and Fort Augustus Irish Descendants, Hon. James Aylward and representatives of the PC Party, Hon. Robert Mitchell, representatives from Youth Justice Services and representatives from the Board of Directors - Hillsboro Funeral Home. Interment followed the funeral liturgy at St. Patrick’s Cemetery with Fr. George Gilliland delivering the graveside prayers. Completion of funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
