The 2018 version kicks off today, featuring 85 options in restaurants from all across the Island

Which burger will reign supreme as P.E.I.’s most loved of 2018?

P.E.I. Burger Love returns today for its eighth celebration of Island beef, and features 85 different gourmet creations that will be available until April 30.

A sample of some of the unique ingredients featured on the burgers includes a bacon-apple-cheese spread, paprika potato chips, chow mein noodles, Himalayan butter sauce — one burger even features marshmallows and Graham crackers.

This year sees the most communities featuring a participating restaurant since the launch of the campaign in 2011.

New areas this year include Tignish, Alberton, Mount Stewart and Cardigan.

“We truly are tip-to-tip this year,” said Melody Dover of Fresh Media, the agency which created and manages P.E.I. Burger Love.

“We love knowing that so many people across the Island now have the opportunity to enjoy a Burger Love burger and support local businesses in their own community.”

This is the second year for the Give Back Burger. Of the restaurants participating in 2018, one third have opted into the initiative, which gives $1 from each of the burgers to food security grant programs in partnership with the United Way of P.E.I.

More than $60,000 was raised last year to support a variety of grant recipients with programs focused on increasing access to local and affordable food for Islanders.

The full list of P.E.I. Burger Love creations will be unveiled today at www.PEIburgerlove.ca.
