Robert Irving to speak at chamber luncheon

President of Cavendish Farms, CEO of Irving Ltd., will be keynote speaker at May 14 event

Robert Irving will be the keynote speaker at a P.E.I. event in May.

The president of Cavendish Farms and CEO of J.D. Irving Ltd. will deliver his talk at the Greater Charlottet­own Area Chamber of Commerce 2018 president’s annual luncheon. The luncheon, sponsored by Richardson GMP, will take place on Monday, May 14, at noon at the Delta Prince Edward.

“We’re pleased to welcome successful Atlantic Canadian entreprene­ur Robert Irving to present this year’s annual luncheon keynote,” said Rory Francis, president of the Greater Charlottet­own Area Chamber of Commerce. “As a leader in a diverse multi-national corporatio­n and a champion for our region, we look forward to hearing more about Mr. Irving’s internatio­nal business experience and the opportunit­ies he sees for our Island economy.”

Irving is well-known to the Island business community. At J.D. Irving Ltd., he’s responsibl­e for consumer products, frozen food processing, transporta­tion, courier and industrial human resource services.

Producing frozen food products for the North American and internatio­nal markets, Cavendish Farms operates two frozen potato processing plants in New Annan, a fresh potato plant in O’Leary and five Cavendish Agri locations across P.E.I. supplying fertilizer and advanced crop services. Cavendish Farms is the largest private-sector employer on the Island while frozen potatoes are the province’s top export product.

Prior to the luncheon, the chamber will hold its 131st annual general meeting at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel at 9:30 a.m. The AGM will be followed by the province’s 2018 Economic Outlook presented by Premier Wade MacLauchla­n at 11:15 a.m.

Tickets for the luncheon are $75 plus HST for chamber members and $85 plus HST for non-members.
