‘Supertramp’ at Harbourfront

-

Harbourfront Theatre brings Classic Albums Live: Supertramp’s Breakfast in America to Summerside on Sunday, April 15, 7:30 p.m.

Classic Albums Live presents skilled musicians who recreate the greatest albums of the ’60s and ’70s live on stage – note for note, cut for cut. There are no costumes or look-alike theatrics at these rock recitals. Instead, the group claims to strive for pure musicianship above all else, while they share the songs that shaped a generation.

“The sheer talent and passion the performers in Classic Albums Live bring to their concerts is just incredible. We’ve had this group in before, and they are wildly popular with our audience and deservingly so,” Harbourfront’s executive director Kieran Keller says.

The Classic Albums Live band has performed at Harbourfront Theatre many times over the years. Last year, they brought the Eagle’s iconic “Hotel California” and Rush’s popular “2112” to the stage. This April, they share Supertramp’s “Breakfast in America”.

“Breakfast in America” was one of the biggest-selling albums of 1979 and ’80, with the title tune, “The Logical Song” and “Take the Long Way Home” reaching the upper limits of the charts.

“The two distinct vocals within Supertramp are, like the Beatles, the secret ingredient,” Craig Martin, Classic Albums Live founder, explains. “When rehearsing the album, we spent a lot of time getting all the layered vocals – they’re complex, melodic and full of meaning, and the sound becomes a siren of joy.”
