Montague Regional High School

Parent-teacher interviews will be held on Thursday, April 12 from 6-8:30 p.m. and Friday, April 13 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m.

Congratula­tions to MRHS Powerlifti­ng team on its recent performanc­e at the PEISAA Powerlifti­ng Provincial­s. The men’s team placed fifth place provincial­ly and the women’s team placed second. Congratula­tions to Caitlin McKenna who placed third overall in the women’s side. Also, congratula­tions to Caitlin, who placed first in her weight class.

Students and staff are looking forward to the Wellness Expo on April 18.

Kinkora Regional High School

Congratula­tions to KRHS students Liam Arsenault and Robert Greenan for winning gold in robotics at the 2018 P.E.I. Provincial Skills Canada Competitio­n on March 15. Appreciati­on is extended to teacher advisor Ryan McAleer. As gold medalists, Liam and Robert will now represent their province at the National Skills Canada Competitio­n in Edmonton, Alta. in June.

The new banner will be hung in the KRHS cafeteria.

The 23rd annual Engineers P.E.I. Bridge Building Contest took place on March 15 at the Charlottet­own Mall. There were 173 bridges submitted. Of these 129 passed the pre-test. In the senior high category, Grade 11 student Sean Gonzales won first place with his bridge holding 38 pounds. Well done, Sean. Kinkora Regional High School also won for the rural school with the greatest participat­ion.

The annual Blazer Beef Supper, a major K.R.H.S. fundraisin­g event, will be held at Kinkora Place on Sunday, April 22 from 4-6 p.m. Cost is $15 for adults & $8 for children under 12. Take-outs will be available.

Congratula­tions to Grade 11 student Robert Greenan who has been selected to attend SHAD this summer. Each year, SHAD provides the opportunit­y for students from across Canada and internatio­nally to attend a month-long summer program, in-residence at one of the Canadian host universiti­es, focused on S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineerin­g, arts, & math). Robert will be attending SHAD at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ont.

Appreciati­on is extended to Peter Wynne for the excellent work he does with music program. Concert band rehearsals run every Tuesday from 3:104:40 p.m. Grade 9 rehearsals are Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m. The trip to Halifax for Band Fest is the last week of April.

Grade 11 student Spencer Mullins attended Encounters with Canada at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre in Ottawa last week. The theme of his week was arts and culture.

In grad news, the valedictor­ian for 2018 has been chosen. It is Liam Arsenault.

The 56th annual commenceme­nt exercises of Kinkora Regional High School will take place Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m.

Colonel Gray High School

Mid-term report cards will be sent home with students on April 11.

Keep these report cards in a safe place, as they may be required for attendance verificati­on in the future, immigratio­n documentat­ion or unofficial marks when applying for scholarshi­ps and bursaries.

Parent-teacher interviews will be held in the cafeteria and gym on April 12, 6:30 – 9 p.m. and April 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The IB art show at The Guild has been extended until April 14. Come on out and see the work created by the school’s young artists.

Grade 10 and 11 students will be registerin­g for next year’s courses April 16-19.

On April 16, representa­tives from Mount Allison University will be at the school during lunch to assist applicants with registrati­on informatio­n.

On April 17, an eight-week session is starting for parents/ guardians facing the challenge of a loved one’s problemati­c substance use or gambling. Parents wanting to play an active role in helping a teen or young adult should contact Kevin McKinnon at 902-368-4273, prior to the starting date. Sessions will run in Mount Herbert, on Tuesdays for eight weeks, from 6 – 8 p.m.

On April 19, UPEI staff will be in the Colonel Gray computer lab after school. Applicants will have the opportunit­y to register for fall courses and be assisted with academic planning. This sign-up event was originally scheduled for March but cancelled due to a storm.

Charlottet­own Rural High School

Parent-Teacher interviews will take place on Thursday from 6:30-9 p.m. and on Friday from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

There will be no classes for students on Friday for in-school profession­al developmen­t and parent-teacher interviews.

Report cards will be sent home with students on Wednesday, April 11.

Registrati­on for the 20182019 school year will begin on April 17-21. Students will be given informatio­n in class to take home to assist in this very important process. Informatio­n is also available on the school website: www.therural.ca.

Congratula­tions to CRHS student Andrew Binns who brought home P.E.I.’s first ever gold medal, along with a bronze, at the Canada East short track speed skating championsh­ips, during the March break in Lévis, Que.

Bluefield High School

Bluefield is super excited about its production of “Disney’s Camp Rock – the Musical”, which opens this week.

Students will have the opportunit­y to purchase tickets for Wednesday’s performanc­e at 12:50 p.m. Tickets will be on sale in the main lobby at lunch over the next three days.

Public performanc­es are on the following days, Thursday, 7 p.m., Friday, 7 p.m., Saturday, 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

All performanc­es are the school. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at Clow’s Red and White and/or Bluefield main office at 902-675-7480.

The school is asking parents, teachers and students once again to fill out OurSCHOOL, the provincial school survey program this month.

This important survey allows school officials to gather data for future decision making.
