Supporting mental health
Community foundation supporting initiatives
Each year, through various donors, the Community Foundation of P.E.I. (CFPEI) creates a Community Impact Grant based on a specific and timely granting theme as it relates to the needs within the Island community.
This year, the CFPEI Granting Committee, which is comprised of both board and volunteer members, has announced that for 2018 the Community Impact grant will be supporting mental health initiatives.
The fund will offer projectbased funding to selected registered charitable organizations providing mental health services across the Island. CFPEI is now accepting applications for project proposals ranging from $100 to $5,000 that must be delivered and completed in 2018. The application process can be found online at www.cfpei. ca. The application deadline is 4 p.m. on May 31.
“CFPEI has decided to designate available communitybased funding towards mental health based on an assessment of needs that when supported, can help have a significant impact in our local communities,” said Jeff MacKenzie, chairman of the CFPEI Granting Committee.
“It has been encouraging to see a number of organizations across the Island doing great work to support mental health initiatives and this fund will allow these organizations to continue building upon that work in 2018.”
For individuals or organizations with the desire to support mental health initiatives, contributions to the Community Impact Grant are most welcome and can be made by contacting the Foundation at 902-892-3440 or by email at info@cfpei.ca. Charitable receipts are available to donors. Any additional funds received will help increase the impact this grant will have in our community.
For 25 years, the foundation has provided a ‘vehicle for donors to create endowment funds to support charitable activities and last year it awarded 164 grants and scholarships totaling over $500,000 to individuals and organizations to support health, education, sports, the arts and the environment throughout the province,” said MacKenzie.
