Gala is the cat’s meow

Volunteer organization has helped more than 12,500 cats

-

P.E.I.’s Cat Action Team is holding its gala fundraising buffet dinner and silent auction event on Saturday, May 26.

The event will take place at the Rodd Charlottetown Hotel with the cash bar and auction opening at 6 p.m. and the dinner following at 7 p.m.

The Cat Action Team is a volunteer-run, registered charity offering a trap-neuter-release program to members of the public who are caring for outdoor, stray, feral and barn cats on P.E.I.

Since its incorporation in 2001, Cat has spayed and neutered more than 12,500 cats, placed more than 100 wooden shelters in feral cat colonies, provided cat food when necessary and responded to numerable concerns related to feral, stray and barn cats from communities across the province.

Cat has managed to do all this with the help of volunteers, donors and participating veterinarians. Their support has allowed Cat to improve the lives of so many cats, some of which were living in horrible conditions without adequate food or shelter.

The spaying/neutering of outdoor cats not only reduces the number of unwanted litters, thereby preventing further pet homelessness, it also makes non-owned cats better neighbours by reducing nuisance behaviours such as fighting and spraying.

Anyone who would like to purchase tickets or make a donation to the auction is asked to contact Susan Turner at 902963-3179 or at turner.susan53@ gmail.com. Tickets may also be purchased by cash or cheque at the P.E.I. Humane Society.
