Crusaders seeded No. 1 for final tournament

The Kensington Crusaders captured first place during the recent P.E.I. 18-and-under girls’ spring volleyball league tournament hosted by the Red Mudd club.

Twelve teams competed the two-tiered tournament.

The Crusaders moved into first place in the provincial league standings with the win heading into tonight’s final in league tournament. Action begins with the tier two division at 5 p.m. while the tier one play begins at 7 p.m. All games are at the Immanuel Christian School gym.

At the recent tournament, the Crusaders posted a 4-1 record with their only loss coming at the hands of the Charlottet­own Colonels Gray team.

A three-way tie of teams with 3-2 records resulted in a tiebreaker. The Charlottet­own Colonels White team posted its first second-place finish, Rural Raiders One moved to third and Colonels Gray held on to fourth, keeping those four teams in the top tier for the final league tournament.

Rural Raiders Red and Summerside Suns One teams will be moving to tier two play by placing fifth and sixth, respective­ly.

Tier two play saw the Summerside Suns Two and Red Mudd Red teams finish with 4-1 records to move into the top tier for tonight’s tournament.

The Evangeline Coyotes (3-2) captured third place and rounding out the six-team round robin were Kinkora Blazers (23), West Prince Islanders (2-3) and Red Mudd Black (0-5).
