It’s a dirty job, but a parents have to do it.

Diaper changes can be an inconvenience, at best, when parents go out with their kids and Tignish-Palmer Road MLA Hal Perry recently asked if the government would do anything to ensure more businesses have baby changing stations

Perry raised the issue during a recent question period, asking if any regulations are in place for businesses to have baby changing stations on their premises.

“I’ve been lot of approached by Hal Perry

several young families in my district and their concerns is that all public places have proper baby changing stations so that mothers and fathers can change their baby’s diapers without having to worry about it,” he said.

Health Minister Robert Mitchell responded that the government doesn’t have a policy on change tables.

Perry talked about his own experiences taking children out in public and said he could relate.

“I know back when my boys were younger they always chose the most inappropriate time to change the aroma in their surroundings,” he said.

He also asked if the government would consider incentives for restaurants and other businesses to install baby changing stations.

Mitchell didn’t commit to any incentives for businesses, but he said the government could look at options through different departments.
