Spring Fling featuring Pendergast and friends part of Trinity United Concert Series

-

Michael Pendergast plays host to a number of talented musicians for a Spring Fling of music and fiddling on Sunday afternoon at Trinity United Church in Summerside.

Known for performances across the Island, ceilidhs, Small Hall appearances, and festivals, Pendergast blends classic sounds of Prince Edward Island and the Maritimes with his own songs that range from the obviously comical to subtly touching.

He was also host of the longplaying cable show “Pendy’s Pub,” which brought his performances to a wide range of Islanders.

Joining him for the May 6 show is his brother-in-law and sister Andy and Monique Doucette from the western end of the Island.

With Andy on fiddle and guitar and Monique on piano, they will not only provide backup music and vocals, but lead the audience in some rousing Acadian style fiddling sets.

Special guests for this afternoon of music will be some younger musicians. First are Ava and Lily Rashed from Charlottetown, 13-year-old twin sisters who write their own songs and play their own instruments.

They hail from Maritime musical royalty, their greatgrandfather being Charlie Chamberlain and father David Rashed of Haywire fame.

Closing out this exciting lineup is Skye MacAusland, a high school student from Kensington, who is a triple threat on piano, fiddle and with her voice.

All are welcome to a wellrounded afternoon of tunes and songs to welcome spring, beginning at 2 p.m.

Advance tickets are available at the church office, (902) 4363155 or from Wendell at (902) 436-8600. Advance tickets are $10 or $12 at the door.
