Choir to present final concert of the year

Harmonia Girls’ Choir delivers its final concert of the year Saturday, May 5, 1 p.m., at Park Royal United Church.

“Sing a New Song” will include a special performanc­e by women’s choral ensemble, Sirens.

The program celebrates youth, rebirth, hope and newness of spring – Harmonia and Sirens are pleased to come together for this refreshing afternoon concert, a news release says.

Harmonia Girls’ Choir, now in its third season, is Sirens’ premiere educationa­l program for girls between the ages of 11 and 18.

Having fun, making new friends and discoverin­g the joys of singing in a group – Harmonia is a community where girls can feel safe to find their voices through music, says the release.

Focus is placed on strong vocal technique, musiciansh­ip, and music theory, all while having fun.

Harmonia is under the direction of Kelsea McLean, with pianist Andrea Ellis, both experience­d educators and private music instructor­s.

Harmonia has participat­ed in the Queen’s County Music Festival earning the Community Youth Choir Award in 2017.

The ensemble regularly collaborat­es with Sirens, and has performed at Fanningban­k, Music Monday, and PEI Junior Honour Choir events.
