Summerside women charged with stabbings in incidents
Men treated for injuries at Prince County Hospital
Police in Summerside investigated two separate alleged stabbings Wednesday that resulted in two women facing charges.
At 2:30 a.m., officers were called to the Prince County jail after a 36-year-old Summerside woman reported to corrections staff that an acquaintance was trying to hurt her.
An investigation revealed that the woman and the acquaintance, a 44-year-old Summerside man, were involved in a dispute at a Central Street apartment building where both live but in separate units.
The man said that during the argument the woman produced two knives and stabbed him twice before he was able to flee the scene. He was treated at Prince County Hospital for injuries to his leg and abdomen, neither of which were life-threatening.
The 36-year-old woman was arrested and faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Police say both parties involved are well known to each other. The matter remains under investigation.
Then, at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to a report of a domestic dispute at a Granville Street apartment building.
When they arrived, officers found a man bleeding from a shoulder injury. The man reported that he and his common-law partner were involved in an argument and he was then stabbed in the shoulder.
Police have charged a 25-year-old Summerside woman with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats. She is being held in custody pending a show-cause hearing.
The man was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries and released from Prince County Hospital.
