Souris Live presents Mother’s Day concert

Souris Legion new venue, with wide variety of shows already being planned

Souris Live will present a Mother’s Day Concert at its newly renovated new location at the Souris Royal Canadian Legion on Sunday, May 13, 7 p.m.

The Legion is located at 56 Main St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with an admission by a goodwill offering of a donation to the food bank greatly appreciate­d.

The lineup for the entertainm­ent will include Peggy Clinton and her daughter, Anna, along with Stephanie Mitsuk, the Deagle Family (Rhonda Deagle, Charity Deagle, Dianne Deagle, Donna Deagle-Peters), the Chaisson Family (Louise MacKinnon, Judy Chaisson, Mary Chaisson), fiddlers Zoe and Holly O’Regan, Pam Grant, Jenna Croucher, Molly Rodgers and step dancer Harlee Grenier.

“We are excited to kick off our season with a concert to honor so many great women in our lives” says Clinton who is co-chairwoman along with Stephanie Mitsuk of the Souris Live board.

The plan is to celebrate all the special women in the community together. A similar concert to celebrate the men in the community is planned for Father’s Day.

Other highlights for the season include a hoedown with Clinton and Johnny Ross on July 22, North Lake native Ray MacDonald will be home to perform on Aug. 1 and Mark Haines is booked to perform with Tom Leighton in August and with Patrick Ledwell in October.

Plans for Souris Live’s “Sunday by the Sea” concert series to be held on the third Sunday of every month are well under way, and other bookings have been made into December with plans to provide events in January and February as well.

With seating for 200, this spacious venue provides the opportunit­y for Souris Live to present shows year-round instead of confining their activities from May to October.
