The funeral for Joseph (Joe) Shreenan, formerly of Kinkora was held on Monday, May 21, 2018 from the Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora to St. Malachys Church, Kinkora where funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Doug MacDonald who proclaimed the gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by his brother, Reg, nieces, Joanne Weir, Rose McCardle and nephew, Kevin Matters. Cross bearer was Colette Stordy. Altar servers were Bertha and Neville Lawless. The combined choirs of St. Malachy’s and St. Peter’s sang the entrance hymn, Be Not Afraid; offertory hymn, Amazing Grace; communion hymn, Prayer of St. Francis; post communion hymn, In The Garden and recessiona­l hymn, How Great Thou Art. Guitarist was Mike Johnston. The first reading from Ecclesiast­es was proclaimed by grandniece, Laura McCardle and the second reading from Corinthian­s was proclaimed by nephew, Kevin Matters. Prayers of the Faithful were led by Colette Stordy. Eucharisti­c Ministers were Betty Smith and Barb McCardle. Usher was Leonard Keefe. Pall bearers were George Roberts, Peter Roberts, Danny McCardle, James Lawless, Robert Duffy, and Fred McCardle. Attending the funeral were the Congregati­on of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart and St. Martha’s, Management of Andrew’s of Parkhill and Irene Burge, SDU Class of 1951. Interment was in the parish cemetery with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiatin­g.
