It is with great sadness that the family of Guy Cormier announces his passing on May 20, 2018, age 74 years. Born in Montreal, Q.C., he was the son of the late Henry Cormier and Marguerite LeBlanc. Guy was retired from Transport Canada, where he worked as an electronic technician in the provinces of Q.C., N.B. and P.E. Followed by the love of his family, was his passion for music. He was an outstandin­g guitar, banjo and dobro player. He participat­ed in organizing many bluegrass festivals throughout P.E. He is survived by his daughter Ginette; his son Serge (Shellie); grandchild­ren Marie, Taylor and Rhys; greatgrand­children Austin, Tamara and Tahmeekaa; a special friend Leona; sisters Germaine (Carman), Carmelle (Ronald), Jeannine and Mariline (Camillien); step-mother Julia; by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and the mother of his children Rose-Marie. He was predecease­d by his infant daughter Marie; and by brothers Claude and Michel. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, for visiting hours Thursday evening from 5 – 7 p.m., then forwarded to Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook, N.B., with visiting hours Friday 5 – 9 p.m. Funeral will take place on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the St. Thomas Parish Church, St. Joseph, N.B. Interment in Memramcook, N.B. Memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciate­d.
